The Squirrel Hill Poetry Workshop is a writing group established by Sue Saniel Elkind in 1977 at the Squirrel Hill Library, a community branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. The group meets every two weeks for two hours. Each members brings a piece of poetry and that piece is "workshopped" during the two hour session. The Workshop has published two anthologies: THE FIRST DECADE in 1988, and PITTSBURGH AND TRI-STATE AREA POETS in 1992. This is our first effort at going online. Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh - a network project of the Pittsburgh Public Schools - is providing an Internet forum for the Squirrel Hill Poetry Workshop. Each member of the Workshop submitted five poems for this first online collection. This collection is a work-in-progress.
